Monitoring on demand/permanent

Postby sajad » Wed Jun 30, 2010 8:44 pm

Hello,

I know there is the TU Agent which recognizes, when a program is going to be installed.

Maybe the following ideas could be added in it.

Generally it would be great, if TU (Agent) would recognize when a program tries to set up
a new auto start item (in Registry, start menu, etc.), a new item in "Add or remove Program"
is been created, and a service is activated/disabled/installed, etc.

> Without having a snapshot, like it dos for installation files already.

For that there should also be off and permanent status (for the agent).

Sometime you don't install any exe, msi or something like that but anyhow there are different
regkeys, services, start-up items, etc. created or activated and the system got littered,
and you do not notice.
On some action you exactly now when this (could) happen, so you could activate the agent with
special recognition.

I don't think there could be any feasible way for TU to recognize which service/file/key belongs to that specific program... TU wouldn't need to take snapshots in the first place don't you think ?
One suggestion is to actually play around a bit with the software you are installing before completing it's monitoring process, that way you will catch 100% of program's belongings.
