But I still wonder if background activities (version checking, incremental backups, PDF-queueing etc.) for programs installed after TU installation might interfere with a new monitored installation. Of course these activities should not touch data areas for installations, but one can not be sure...
(B.t.w.: if I ever came across a programm crying out for a user manual....

On a clean system the default scanning/compare profiles that are created at the moment of TU installation are normally enough. As long as more background programs are installed then the changes made by these are recommended to be ignored/excluded but are never critical.
