Analyzing everytime

Postby vks_vicky » Sat May 02, 2009 4:42 am

I'm currently using version 5.4.0 on Win XP x64 with a Professional License.

Every time I load the program, it analyzes the 1st highlighted program, it does not store the information once its been analyzed.

I've also checked with other programs in the list, but the analsis are done everytime the program is loaded, this was not the case in version 5.2.0. Its very anonying, irritating and time consuming. Any suggestions?

I've set the analysis to Advance (as my default).

When an entry is selected the analysis is started if the associated log file is not found in the "Analyzed Programs" folder. Once the analysis is finished for an entry, please check if the summary page indicate a log file and if this exists at that location. Restart the program and re-check.

The log file are created on analysis, but everytime I startup, the summary page does not show the log and it regenerated them.

I look at the log fine generated at the given location, but the entire folder was empty, not sure why that happened.

I also noticed one thing on another system, when I upgraded from an older version, the folder was deleted even thought I had selected the option 'Upgrade' when the message pop-up's up to delete the older data or not.

I feel it might do something with the installer.

Because with each new version the analysis is improved the setup deletes the logs at update to force re-analysis. Anyway an analysis should be made just before the uninstall to be sure is up to date.
You say that the "Analyzed Programs" folder is empty after a program is analyzed. This doesn't appeaar to be possible if the analysis ends successfully. The file is saved at the end of analysis and reloaded in the program. Then you see the log path in summary page and detected changes in the Changes page. Please check again if the log exists in the "Analyzed Programs" folder after analysis and not after a re-install.

I just installed v5.4.1 over v5.4.0 and all the logs were deleted, i didn't uninstall the older version, just ran setup into the same folder.

Is this the expected behavior? Now I have to do the analysis all over again for all the tools

Yes, this is the intended behavior.
Logs resulted from analysis become obsolete anyway after you uninstall a program because of the possible connections between uninstalled program and the remaining programs.
With each new version the analysis algorithm is improved so in this way the re-analysis is forced.
